Grab your sunscreen, racers. The Amazing Summer Race is back, and this year’s event is packed with more to do, more to earn, and more to brag about than ever before. Head to the World Quest Center in Port Malaya starting right now!

The Amazing Summer Race will run, tentatively, until September 6th.

Note: our August Monthly Maintenance (just the basics) will happen in a couple of days.

General Updates

First off, some non-event related updates:

Monopoly:

• Computer opponents added. Empty seats can now be filled with bots, so you can play solo or round out a small group. They buy, build, mortgage, bid in auctions and respond to trade offers. This is still beta functionality, so please let us know if anything strange happens. Keep in mind that while the bots work pretty well, they are not nearly as smart as real human opponents.
• 11 new achievements and titles.

Chess:

• Play against the Chess King. No second player needed. Talk to the Chess King and pick Easy, Normal, or Hard, then choose your color (or let fate decide). He castles, promotes, and will absolutely checkmate you if you let him. Same thing as with Monopoly: this is very much an early version, so please let us know if anything feels off.
• 12 new achievements and titles. Earned only against the Chess King.
• Added move announcements. Every move now says what happened and how long the player spent thinking.

Battlegrounds

• Fixed an issue where one could sign up for the queue during Unrestricted mode, and get the increased supplies, but only joined a match during Vanilla, resulting in too many supplies. Supplies are now re-synced when the mode switches.
• When an Unrestricted BG vote is not currently open, you now get a message telling you when the next vote may start.
• Upon player request, increased Cobwebs given to Professor classes from 20 to 40 in Unrestricted BG.
• It is now possible to use Ensemble skills with BG guild members rather than requiring a party.
  • Note: Loki’s Veil has been disabled in BG.
• The following skills now affect your BG guild members rather than only working for party members:
  • Angelus
  • Magnificat
  • Gloria
  • Wind Walk
  • (Full) Adrenaline Rush
  • Weapon Perfection
  • Overthrust

Other

• Sushi Truck is now in the Costume Swap Fairy.
• There is now an announcement when Gramps changes quests. This is now also posted on the #server-messages channel on Discord.
• Fixed Sakura Wings Costume for male sprites.
• Fixed several internal memory leaks related to Battlegrounds queue and Homunculi. This should not affect anything gameplay-related, but please let us know if, well, it does.

Amazing Summer Race

A fresh year means fresh loot! Once again you can race every couple of hours and gather Kordt, Sograt, Darmian, Kokomo and Bonus Badges! Exchange your race badges for the all-new 2026 Basic and Pro Summertime Boxes, stuffed with summer costumes, pets, and goodies. Feeling nostalgic? The older 2024 boxes are also on offer for badge exchange this season.

While the boxes overhaul is not as extensive as it has been last year, there’s still plenty of brand new goodies to obtain! Other than that, we’ve thoroughly revamped the entire Summer Event with new exciting additions, balancing and quality-of-life updates. We hope you all enjoy!

New: The Summer Champion Board

Think you’re the most dedicated racer on the server? Prove it. This year we’re introducing a Top 5 season leaderboard, found right in the Malaya hub:

• Score points by completing missions across your whole account. Normal Missions are worth 1 point, Advanced Missions a whopping 3 points.
• Tied with a rival? Your first-finds break the tie, then your total mission completion time.
• The Top 5 racers at season’s end claim an exclusive champion prize (TBD, will let you know soon) once the final standings are verified.
• Check your own rank any time. The public board keeps standings anonymous, so only you know how close you are to the crown.

New: Tipping your Warpers

When finishing a race mission, you now get an option to tip the players who have spent the time warping everyone. The NPC will ask you for a player name. Simply add the name of your favorite warper to send them a thanks! It does not give out any rewards, but the top warpers will be shown on a special board in Port Malaya.

Captain TamTam’s Treasure Hunt, Reworked

The Treasure Hunt got its biggest update in years:

• For this year we have decided to remove the Treasure Map feature.
• Hot & Cold digging: every dig now tells you how close you are to buried treasure, from “the sand is cold” all the way to “SCALDING”. No more digging blind!
• Treasure Guardians: some treasures are protected by Akkorokamui’s burrowed minions. The dig still counts, but you’ll have to slay the guardian to claim its booty, and it comes back with better odds than a normal find.
• The tide brings more: treasures are no longer all buried at once. Whenever the supply runs low, a fresh wave washes ashore, so late arrivals always have something to dig for.
• A new hunting ground: the western coastline of Ayothaya Field joins the map rotation as well as one of the Hugel Fields.
• Bigger hauls: total treasure per round has been increased by roughly a third, with the amounts rebalanced per map.
• Master Digger: finish a round as its top digger and Captain TamTam will announce you to the whole server. Doing it earns the new “Diggy Diggy Hole” achievement and the equippable Master Digger title.

Akkorokamui Returns Tougher Than Ever

Captain TamTam’s octopus hunt has had its biggest shake-up in years. Akkorokamui remembers you from last summer, and this time it came ready.

Choose your challenge. When your party of four to six sets out, TamTam will now ask how fierce a fight you want. Stick with Normal for the classic scrap, or brave Kraken’s Wrath (Hard), where Akkorokamui is far beefier, hits harder with both its tentacles and its body, and lashes out noticeably faster. It is a proper test for a seasoned, well-geared crew, and the spoils are greater for those brave enough to try.

No two dives are the same. Every time you descend, the seas roll differently. Each run now brings one of several random twists, so the memorized routine will not carry you anymore:

• Focused Fury: every limb you sever only makes Akkoro’s body strike harder.
• Rippling Tides: its tidal waves crash nearly twice as often, so keep your footing.
• Iron Tentacles: its limbs are unnaturally tough, dragging out the fight.

You will not know which one you have drawn until Akkoro shows you, so adapt on the fly.

Do not stand idle. When Akkorokamui curls into its defensive shell and turtles up, it now summons deep-sea beasts to swarm your party. Standing around waiting out the shell is no longer an option. Cut the spawn down and hold your ground until Akkoro drops its guard again.

Claim your share of the hoard. Bring Akkorokamui down on Kraken’s Wrath and it will surrender one of its hoarded Treasure Chests before slinking off to sulk. This is no scramble over a single pile of loot. Every member of the crew opens the chest for themselves, so nobody walks away empty handed:

• Every chest holds a guaranteed Bonus Summer Badge.
• Any of the Summer Race badges, normal or advanced, may also surface.
• If the tides truly favor you, a 2026 Summertime Box on top.
• You may claim two chests per day. That is counted per person, not per character, so alts will not help you here.

New titles for the truly salty. Conquering Kraken’s Wrath now earns its own line of achievements. Beat it once, ten times, or twenty five times to claim the Stormcaller, Leviathan Slayer, and Master of the Abyss titles.

New Achievements and Titles

The summer achievement collection has grown again this year, including but not limited to:

• Conjuress’s Apprentice: complete one of the Summer Conjuress’s costume requests
• Tiki Regular / Tiki Devotee: claim the Tiki Bar Calendar 15 / 30 days in a row
• Summer All-Rounder: take part in every summer activity this season
• Dressed for Summer: complete a mission while wearing a Summer Event Suit
• Diggy Diggy Hole: finish a Treasure Hunt round as its top digger
• Kraken’s Wrath: defeat Akkorokamui on Hard 1, 10, and 25 times

The Clairvoyant Sees All

The Achievement Clairvoyant in Malaya has sharpened her sight! She now shows your full activity counters, a handy All-Rounder checklist of exactly what you’ve done and what’s left, your achievement total, your Tiki streak, and a fortune about the title in your future…

Fresh Missions, New Faces

• Five new representatives have joined the NPC-finding missions.
• New gathering missions and new hunting missions replace some long-serving classics.
• A few familiar race members have been rearranged, and you may spot some new and renamed faces out in the fields.

Quality of Life

• New @summerevent command: check from anywhere whether a race round is open, which region is active, and how long remains, plus the Treasure Hunt status. No more running to Malaya just to check the clock!
• Last Call: if nobody has found the race representative by minute 40, the server will announce which map they were last seen on. Night owls, your dead-hour rounds just got a second wind.
