October?! Already?! We swear it was Easter five minutes ago. But here we are. Leaves falling, Ninjas rising, and the MCB packing more surprises than a Mimic. Buckle up, folks, this patch is stuffed tighter than a Trick or Treat Box!

We’ve rolled out a variety of updates across the board, but the spotlight this month definitely goes to the Ninja class, which has received major revamps and refinements. Read on for all the details!

Monthly Updates

For a duration of 1 week, you can now purchase this [Visual] Aura Wing Costume at the Talon Shop for 6000 Talon Cash! This is a Garment slot costume. You can of course preview it at the Dressing Coach NPC.

Disclaimer: even though it’s sold for a limited time, it may or may not return in the future to cater towards players from different timezones. Additionally, keep in mind that these visual effects only show up when effects in-game are enabled.

General Updates

  • Inns Updates:
    • All Inns now offer Level 10 Blessing and Increase Agility buffs for using them. The buffs will have a duration of 10 minutes.
    • It costs 10,000 Zeny to get one of the buffs and 15,000 Zeny to get both.
    • Unified all Inns into one function so they will all interact the same way.
  • Battlegrounds Updates:
    • Initial Battlegrounds queue messages now specifically mention how many players have queued up, instead of just showing how many more are required to start a match.
    • Added minimaps to Rush and Conquest castles.
    • In Conquest, there are now objective viewpoints in your minimap. It will show you where the Guardian Stones are, the next Barricade to destroy and the Emperium. This way players who join an existing match will know what their objective is right away.
    • Updated the way the warp flags work in Conquest. When you select a destination, it now shows its location in the minimap so that you can see where you are warping to before you actually go there. Also improved the NPC interaction so that you can go back to the main menu if you want to. This also comes with a major code revamp, so please let us know if anything in Conquest goes wrong.
    • Fixed Tasty Pink Ration and Tasty White Ration not working in BG. Also lowered their purchase price from 50 to 25 coins.
    • No, we haven’t forgotten about the other updates regarding daily quests, etc. More coming.
  • Updated Guild Recruitment Board to send a mail to the Guild Leader when their listing expired. Also added an additional board to Prontera.
  • Updated the Plagiarism NPC with new skills:
    • Cold Bolt [7500z]
    • Crimson Fire Blossom [10000z]
    • Fire Bolt [7500z]
    • Flying Side Kick [15000z]
    • Grand Cross [15000z]

  • Also updated Plagiarism NPC with a Last Used option and made some preparations to have it work in BG matches for a future update.
  • Lowered Lude spawn delay on nif_fild02 from 6 ~ 8 minutes to 30 ~ 45 seconds. Also increased their spawn amounts from 10 to 15.
  • Service for You and Apple of Idun now have a 1-second cooldown to address some spam concerns.
  • You can no longer have any Purified Essences in your inventory when doing a Rollback or Cross-Transcending.

Ninja Updates

As previously announced, we are looking into solutions to fix and balance classes. Where we previously avoided making skill changes to “balance out” a class, this approach is gradually shifting. While we still want to preserve the Pre-Renewal feeling, there are edge cases where adjustments are necessary. Ninja will be the first class to receive this treatment, with Gunslinger following shortly after. These updates will serve as a reference point for how we may approach future class reworks.

One of Ninja’s long-standing problems is that a number of their physical skills are ineffective by design (Mist Slash being a clear example), and overall, they are cumbersome to use compared to their magic skills. Mist Slash, for instance, is weaker than simply using Thief’s Hiding. Shadow Slash requires a high level of commitment (and spread of stats) relative to other skills. Throw Huuma Shuriken, intended as a ranged AoE option, carries steep stat requirements while offering limited payoff. The Huuma weapon type itself also holds the class back, being one of the slowest and least effective weapon types in the game, without offering meaningful advantages over dagger and shield setups. To compensate, we have resorted to adjustments through cards, custom weapons, and SQI bonuses in the past. For this update, we are instead focusing on addressing the underlying issues of Ninja’s short-range physical skills (with the exception of Throw Huuma Shuriken).

At a later stage, we will continue improving Ninja by revisiting their remaining physical ranged skills and other underperforming abilities. This will be considered part one of the Ninja update, as we also want to ensure timely delivery of other important content and updates.

IMPORTANT: due to the skill (level) revamps, every Ninja will receive a skill reset upon login, once. You can also no longer load builds saved in the Build Saver NPC, however you can still view them.

General

  • Added titles to Ninja and Gunslinger Gear/Ammo Crafting NPCs to make it easier to tell who does what.
  • Added missing profile image for Craftsman Kaibara.
  • Fixed [Throw Huuma Shuriken] and [Fireball] producing a ton of redundant animations while mobbing which can result in lag.
  • Shinobi Spawns in Amatsu Dungeon 3 are now instant.
  • Tengu Spawns in Amatsu Dungeon 3 are now instant.
  • The Paper Spawns in Amatsu Dungeon 3 are now instant.
  • Incantation Samurai no longer drops Huuma Blaze Shuriken [0] ([2] after changes). Instead, it now drops Mikatsuki [2] at a 5% chance.
    • Note: New Weapon, see Spreadsheet.
  • Karakasa no longer drops Murasame [1]. Instead, it now drops Weeder Knife [0] at a 0.03% chance.
  • Miyabi Doll no longer drops Hakujin [0] ([1] after changes). Instead, it now drops Star Dust Blade [1] at the same rate as the Hakujin.
  • Wanderer no longer drops Lady Lutie’s Pancake. Instead, it now drops Hakujin [0] ([1] after changes) at a 0.15% chance.
  • Shinobi now drops Murasame [0] ([2] after changes) at a 0.03% chance.
  • Reduced Assaulter’s Huuma Wing Shuriken [0] ([2] after changes) Drop Rate from 0.15% to 0.03%.
  • Reduced Shinobi’s Shinobi Sash [0] Drop Rate from 3% to 0.09%.
  • Reduced Shinobi’s Murasame [1] ([3] after changes) Drop Rate from 0.15% to 0.03%.
  • Reduced Wanderer’s Hakujin [1] ([2] after changes) Drop Rate from 0.15% to 0.03%.
  • Reduced Fire Imp’s Huuma Blaze Shuriken [0] ([2] after changes) Drop Rate from 0.09% to 0.06%.
  • Added Mikatsuki [3] to Slotter NPC at A Rank costing 5 Oridecon, 10 Steel, and 800,000 Zeny.
  • Increased Shinobi Sash Sell Price from 10,000 to 50,000.
  • Increased Shinobi Sash Buy Price from 20,000 to 100,000.
  • Shinobi Sash [1] rank in Slotter NPC changed. It is now an A Rank item which now costs 1 Elunium and 500,000 Zeny.

Crafting Related

  • All Ninja Weapon Quests (except Custom Huumas)
    • Now grants 1 random option stat upon crafting any Ninja Weapon. The stat can be any of the following: STR + 1, VIT + 1, INT + 1, DEX + 1, HIT + 5, ASPD + 3%, CRIT + 3, HP + 75, or SP + 20. This feature does not apply for the custom Huuma quests, only the official crafting quests!
  • Ashura [3] Quest
    • Now Crafts an Ashura [2] instead of an Ashura [3].
    • Can now upgrade an Ashura [2] into an Ashura [3] at the cost of 100,000 Zeny and 1 Oridecon. Refine and Cards will be carried over!
    • Increased Zeny Cost from 32,000 to 50,000.
  • Hakujin [0] Quest ([1] after changes)
    • Can now upgrade a Hakujin [1] into an Hakujin [2] at the cost of 100,000 Zeny and 1 Oridecon. Refine and Cards will be carried over!
    • Reduced Zeny Cost from 120,000 to 50,000.
    • Reduced Level 3 Heal Requirement from 10 to 3.
  • Jitte [0] Quest ([2] after changes)
    • Can now upgrade a Jitte [2] into an Jitte [3] at the cost of 100,000 Zeny and 1 Oridecon. Refine and Cards will be carried over!
    • Increased Zeny Cost from 20,000 to 50,000.
    • Removed Old Hilt Requirement.
    • Lowered Steel Requirement from 30 to 25.
    • Now requires 50 Broken Sword.
    • Now requires 100 Burning Hair.
  • Murasame [1] Quest ([2] after changes)
    • Can now upgrade a Murasame [2] into an Murasame [3] at the cost of 100,000 Zeny and 1 Oridecon. Refine and Cards will be carried over!
    • Increased Zeny Cost from 48,000 to 50,000.
    • Now requires 5 Cracked Diamond.
    • Now requires 100 Cyfar.
  • Huuma Giant Wheel Shuriken [3] Quest
    • Can now upgrade a Huuma Giant Wheel Shuriken [3] into a Huuma Giant Wheel Shuriken [4] at the cost of 100,000 Zeny and 1 Oridecon. Refine and Cards will be carried over!
    • Increased Zeny Cost from 40,000 to 50,000.
    • Lowered Steel Requirement from 30 to 25.
    • Increased Oridecon Requirement from 2 to 10.
    • Now requires 5 Cracked Diamond.
  • Huuma Giant Wheel Shuriken [4] Quest
    • Can no longer be crafted. Must now be upgraded from the [3] version for 1 Oridecon and 100,000 Zeny, or farmed from Tengu.
  • Huuma Wing Shuriken [0] Quest ([2] after changes)
    • Increased Zeny Cost from 90,000 Zeny to 200,000 Zeny.
    • Increased Harpy Feather Requirement from 20 to 100.
    • Now requires 100 Wing of Dragonfly.

Huuma Weapons

  • The base ASPD mod is now the same as Dagger.

Throw Huuma Shuriken

  • Increased AoE from 3×3 to 5×5.
  • Damage is no longer split between targets.
  • Aftercast Delay is now a Cooldown that is influenced by Aftercast Delay modifiers.
    • Note: This means that you can use other skills right away after using it, and anything existing that will reduce this skill’s delay (such as Bragi) still work to make it faster.

Shadow Jump

  • Now requires Level 1 [Mist Slash] instead of Level 1 [Flip Tatami].
  • Reduced levels from 5 to 1.
  • Reduced SP Cost from 10 to 5.
  • Now has its 9 Cell Range immediately at level 1.
  • No longer influences [Shadow Slash] range.
  • Now checks for Hidden State instead of Hiding Status.
    • Note: This allows the skill to be used out of Hiding and Cloaking as a result.
  • Aftercast Delay is now a Cooldown that is influenced by Aftercast Delay modifiers.
    • Note: This means that you can use other skills right away after using it, and anything existing that will reduce this skill’s delay (such as Bragi) still work to make it faster.

Cicada Skin Shedding

  • Now requires Level 1 [Shadow Jump] instead of Level 5.

Mist Slash

  • Now requires Level 1 [Flip Tatami] instead of Level 1 [Shadow Jump].
  • Reduced levels from 10 to 5.
  • Reduced SP Cost from 10 + 2 x Skill Level to 5 SP at all levels.
  • Increased Skill Mod from 100 + 10 x Skill Level% to 100 + 40 x Skill Level%.
    • Note: Max damage is now 300% instead of 200%.
  • Removed Aftercast Delay.
  • Can no longer miss its target.
  • Is no longer level selectable.
  • Can now be used from long distances from up to 9 Cells away. Furthermore, the user will now be teleported next to the target it was used on before processing damage and hiding.
    • Note: This makes Mist Slash mirror Shadow Slash’s behavior.

Shadow Slash

  • Reduced SP Cost from 14 + 2 x Skill Level to 5 SP at all levels.
  • Increased Skill Mod from 100 + 100 x Skill Level% to 140 x Skill Level%.
    • Note: Max damage is now 700% instead of 500%.
  • Is no longer level selectable.
  • When this skill inflicts a Critical Hit, damage now displays as 2 hits instead of 1.
    • Purely for aesthetic purposes and to make it easier to tell when you inflict a critical hit with the skill. It doesn’t add additional damage other than producing more hit frames on the target.
  • Now checks for Hidden State instead of Hiding Status.
    • Note: This allows the skill to be used out of Hiding and Cloaking as a result.
  • Now starts with 9 Cells Range out of the box and no longer scales with Shadow Jump.

SQI
  • Base
    • Removed ASPD + 13% as a result of Huuma Changes.
  • Bonus 5 (Enables use of level 1 [Hiding]. 50% more damage and add a 20% chance to inflict Sleep status with [Mist Slash])
    • Reduced [Mist Slash] damage from 50% to 25%.
  • Bonus 6 (50% more damage with [Throw Humma Shuriken], [Throw Shuriken], and [Throw Kunai]. [Throw Huuma Shuriken] no longer splits damage. Convert [Throw Huuma Shuriken] delay into a cooldown)
